Super HD (real high definition videos) and older so called Standard HD videos (which don't quite make the cut in terms of being actual HD content, but the quality is great nonetheless). It seem as though High Def Movie Pass used to be one of those websites that claimed it had genuine HD content back in the day, but really didn't. Thankfully in recent times they've turned a new leaf and all the new content being added to the website is the real deal.
At the moment there are 21 super HD videos (real HD) and 49 of the older lower resolution videos. That's a total of 70 videos all up and they're all exclusive to this particular website. So what's the difference between the newly added videos and the previous videos? Don't make the mistake of thinking that the older non-HD videos are of low quality. That's simply not the case. Their quality is actually pretty good. They measure an impressive 720 x 480 pixels in size. Keep in mind that a lot of websites are still only offering videos in 320 x 240 pixels. If you're lucky, you'll get 480 x 360 or even 640 x 480 pixels. The videos are encoded at around 1500kbps which means you're getting plenty of detail in the picture too.
But as good as they are in terms of quality, they can't compare to the newer genuine HD videos. With a whopping resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, they're literally over two and a half times larger than the the older videos and twelve (yes, 12!) times larger than the 320 x 240 videos you'll find in most member's areas even these days. These videos are encoded at between 4000 and 5000kbps. So for once a website is telling the truth when it says it has DVD quality content available inside.
The videos are available in both clip format or as a full-length file. In each case you're given the option of downloading the file or streaming the video directly from the website. And in the newer videos you're also given a choice between WMV and QuickTime videos. The WMV files are my personal preference. They look better. The file size is smaller. And you're going to have a whole lot less potential computability problems with WMV than you will have with QuickTime videos.

I do enjoy high quality stills, but when the video is this good you don't tend to notice the absence of pictures!
