Bravo's opinion:  Inside the member’s area, you’ll find a basic but effective design and layout. At the top of the page, there’s the obligatory header image with a collage of Asian Creamy Pies goodness. Below that is the menu, which really has only two links worth checking out. All Episodes and Bonus Sites. However, both of these are covered on the main page anyways. Below the menu is the latest update to appear in the member’s area with a link to the videos of that episode and the associated pictures. Below this, you’ll see a preview thumbnail image of the next episode due to appear in the member’s area. To the right of both of these is a little section for news regarding this site and the bonus sites I mentioned earlier.

Scroll down further and you’ll come across the archive, which lists all the previous episodes from the Asian Creamy Pies member’s area. Currently (26 October 2006), there are 18 full length scenes available. I’m not sure what the update schedule is as they don’t list dates for the updates, but I’d assume that like most other video websites, updates are weekly. But don’t quote me on that.

The picture area is somewhat disappointing. For all the scenes I looked at, all you got in the way of image content was screencaps taken directly from the videos. Granted, the main focus of this website is its videos, but it’s always nice to have some high quality stills to look at too. The resolution of the screencaps is 750 x 563 pixels. Obviously, being screencaps, the pictures are a bit on the blurry side. Honestly, I wouldn’t even bother with the pics if I were you; I’d head straight to the video area.

Speaking of which. There’s a few options to choose from when it comes to video. Firstly, you can choose between two formats: Windows Media and MPEG. The WMV files are available in 3 different quality levels: low, medium and high. The MPEG videos on the other hand are only available in high quality.

The low quality WMV files measure in at 320 x 240 pixels and are encoded at a bitrate of 382 kbps. This relatively low level of quality is actually standard on many paysites. So it’s good to see that this is considered low quality on this website! The medium quality videos step the resolution up to 400 x 300 pixels and the bitrate goes up to 666kbps. The quality of these videos is substantially better than the lower quality options. Then there’s the high quality WMV files, which have the same resolution as the medium quality videos, but the bitrate bumps up to a massive 1.13Mbps. Take it from me; this makes a huge difference when it comes to the quality of the video. Don’t bother with the low quality videos even if you’re on a slow connection. At the very least, get the medium quality videos, but even then I’d recommend you just wait for the high quality ones to download because the quality really is very good. The MPEG videos are also in a resolution of 400 x 300 pixels, but surprisingly, the quality is nowhere near as good as the WMV counterpart. So stick with the medium or high quality WMV files.

Unfortunately, the videos are only available as clips. There’s no option to view the scene as one long video. Also, the videos are presented to you via streaming, although you can download them to your hard drive also. It’s just a bit fidgety. What you need to do is right click a link below the embedded video and click save as. When it opens the file manager, it’ll ask you to save a file called view_clip.php. All you need to do is change that to 1.wmv or 2.wmv, etc, and it’ll download just like any other video. Simple!

I know I would have sparked your curiosity earlier when I mentioned bonus sites. Final:  All in all, this is a pretty solid website which caters to a very specific taste. It has a decent archive of content, and the quality seems pretty good to me.
