Nina Hartley
She graduated from high school in 1977 and attended San Francisco State University’s undergraduate nursing school and graduated with honors in 1985. In 1982, during her sophomore year, she started working as a stripper and finally entered porn in 1984, with the film “Educating Nina”, which proved to be a great hit. From then on she became one of the most famous porn stars in the world, shooting over 800 films and being renown all over the world, especially for her big blue eyes, her round butt and tiny waist.
She chose the name “Nina” because it was easy for Japanese tourists to say when she was a dancer in San Francisco. “Hartley” was chosen as it was close to her own real name and she wanted a name that sounded real.
She has transcended the porn industry, becoming an important figure in many aspects. Politically she considers herself as a liberal and a sex-positive feminist, always defending the right of women to enjoy the sexual acts and also defending the porn industry in several TV shows, most remarkably in the Oprah Winfrey Show.
Her life today involves several different things. She is married to Ira Levine, a director of porn films –with whom she has worked together a few times. Nina is still acting, appearing mainly in Mature and MILF roles, but she is mainly focused in instructional videos, marketed under the “Nina Hartley’s Guide” brand, where she covers the entire spectrum of sex. In 2006 she also published her first book “Nina Hartley’s Guide to Total Sex”.
